Sunday Snapshot: New York

Guggenheim Museum, New York

What an incredible gallery!
You can’t visit New York without seeing the The Solomon R Guggenheim Museum.

This Frank Lloyd Wright architectural masterpiece was completed in 1959 and since then has been attracting as many visitors to see the sweeping curves of his famous design as to view the exhibitions it holds.

The gallery owns an impressive collection of paintings from Impressionism through to Contemporary Art which are on permanent display whilst special exhibitions are shown for a limited time. If you are in New York at the moment, there are still a few days left to see their current exhibition, Picasso in Black and White, that has been getting rave reviews.

Whatever you do, don’t miss it!

Very cool picture. I’ve never been to the Guggenheim, but I hope to get there when I get back to New York. NYC has so many museums but I’ve only been to the wonderful Met. Sometime I want to go and just museum-hop (in between restaurant-hopping!)

It’s all about time isn’t it Karene. We were lucky to have twelve days in New York last year and even so, there ares still lots of places we didn’t make it to. The Guggenheim is certainly worth putting on top of your list for your next visit!

12 days went far too quickly but we were lucky to have that time!

It is a wonderful museum. We saw a Norman Rockwell exhibition there years ago…fabulous. I will be in New York in a month for more of this amazing city.

Lucky you! I’m very envious…I’d love to go back! It’s a shame the Picasso exhibition is finishing but here is a Kandinsky exhibition that will still be on when you are there. Have a great time!
PS Did you check out my post on eating in New York…lots of fabulous restaurants to try!
