At the end of last year, I wondered how we would be able to outdo the Feast of Travel that 2012 bought but little did I know that 2013 would be an even bigger year of travel for us.
I’ve always been a great believer in making the most of any opportunity and when the chance came for us to travel in Europe for seven and a half months, we took it!
Seven and a half months away, 15 countries and an uncountable number of towns……I don’t even dare to try and add up the meals!!

Thank you all for following our travels in 2013. Because of our huge year of travelling the blog posts have suffered but they will return in the New Year as I relive some of the exciting places we visited.
At the beginning of 2013 I tackled Facebook. Frustrating as it is with facebook only deciding to show posts to a small percentage of you, I have loved the daily contact it provides with those of you who do receive the posts.
Instagram is another favourite. It’s a great way of travelling along with us and sharing our adventures. You can follow by either joining Instagram or following me here
This year my challenge is to start a monthly newsletter! I’m hoping it will be a great way of staying in contact with you all and sharing extra travel information and tips that don’t make it to the blog or facebook.
It’s easy to subscribe…just fill in your email address on the side bar of the blog page!
Finally I would just like to wish you and your family all the best for a fabulous, safe and fun filled 2014
Happy New Year!

Highlights of 2011
What a fantastic year! How cool that we got to meet up in Perth, Zagreb and London! I’m so envious of the incredible food you had everywhere. That’s my goal for next year, to seek out the best restaurants wherever we go. It’s going to become a priority! See you next year!
It was a pretty amazing year Andrea. My only complaint is that it went too fast! It was great that we could meet up in a lot in 2013. I look forward to doing the same in 2014….maybe we can even try some new restaurants together!
I love the world through your eyes! Mmm lunch at Noma, I’d love to hear more about that experience in a separate post.
Thanks Shing. Noma was incredible! one of the best meals I’ve had. I’m hoping to post in the coming months! All I can say is go if you have the opportunity!
I definitely will, it’ll also be good for my job as we’re looking to develop culinary focussed tours in Scandinavia, but mainly in Sweden as it’s the most famous country for food out of the Scandinavian countries – I just wonder if I can put Noma on company expenses, hehe, only kidding I’m not so cheeky. Looking forward to your up-and-coming posts!
I think Noma would definitely qualify for a company expense Shing…good luck!! I love food tours…sounds like a great idea. It will be fun trying all the places!
I share your frustration with FB, but I did manage to follow along on your travels thanks to that quirky social media! Many of your photos have brought back wonderful memories of cruise ports of call and other stops we’ve made in Europe – with each vowing to return for a longer stay (much like your experience in Piran). I look forward to your photos on Instagram and future blog posts telling us of your travels. Happy New Year and Happy New Adventures ahead!
Thank you for following on FB Jackie! It was great reading your comments along the way. The blog posts will start coming in the next couple of weeks. Happy Travels in 2014
That is a truly incredible year of travel! Loved that I found you on FB and started following your travels in Turkey. Some amazing pictures here which found me smiling as I scrolled down and recognised some of the destintations and others which have inspired future travels. Hope 2014 is as memorable for you – happy travels 🙂
I’m hoping 2014 will be as great too Suzanne. 2013 was pretty special…we certainly saw a lot of Europe! I love that travelling creates such wonderful memories which can be invoked at any time and by anything…especially photos! All the best for your travels in 2014
What a fabulous year of travel you’ve had and your photos are a stunning way to showcase the places you visited. I look forward to reading more about your travels in 2014. All the best for a wonderful year.
Thanks Carolyn. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos! We’re still in the planning stages for 2014 so I’m not sure where we’ll be but it’s fun doing the research! Best wishes to you for a great 2014
What a fabulous year! I hope the next one is just as good. I don’t really do Facebook and Instagram. I hope you get back to blogging soon.
I’ll be back to blogging very shortly Debra! I found it hard to enjoy all the travelling we were doing and concentrate on the blog at the same time which is why it was great to be able to post and keep in touch with everyone on Facebook and Instagram. Best wishes for another fabulous year for you!
Quite a treat looking at these great shots. Wishing you the best for 2014, on the travel and blogging fronts, too.
Thanks Michael. It was great meeting you and Marlys in Rotterdam. Maybe we’ll catch up again in 2014! All the best to you both for a great 2014
I am SO jealous! Actually your post brought back memories of the year we spent traveling all over Europe — aren’t you and I lucky to have had that experience? So many memories — and in my case, 21,000 pictures to remind me of all we experienced. I’ve been to most of the places you visited. Slovenia and Greece are in my plans for 2014. Turkey remains on my “someday” list. I’ve had the good fortune to explore Croatia and Montenegro twice. I love the tangible history to be found in those places.
I look forward to reading about your adventures in the coming year and to seeing many more of your gorgeous photographs. Happy 2014!
Libbie
We really are very fortunate Libbie. I too take thousands of pictures when I’m away…now I need to go through them all for blog posts! You’ll love Slovenia….it’s such a beautiful country! We’ll probably go back to Turkey again as we love exploring the countryside and delving into its incredible history. You might want to consider moving it up the list! It’ll be great to have you following our travels next year. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. All the best for your travels in 2014
It was an incredible journey and I was happy to travel along through your posts. It was a lovely experience for me so I can imagine how wonderful it was for you. All the best in the coming New Year.

Your pictures are beautiful and I can’t imagine how many miles you traveled throughout the year. Happy New Year.
Thanks Neva. It would have been interesting to have kept a record of the miles we travelled..it certainly was a lot! Maybe next year! All the best for a great 2014!
Wow, what an amazing and beautiful year you’ve had 🙂

Thanks Nita. We had an incredible year…not many stories so far but there’ll be lots to tell in the next few months before we head off again! All the best to you for a great year too Nita.
Great wrap up! This got me very excited for my upcoming move to Europe and all the wonderful places I will go. Noma just popped on my radar thanks to an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s new show and I’d love to hear more about your experience!
Moving to Europe will be so exciting for you Heather! You’ll be much closer to Noma!! I’ll be writing a bit about it shortly but I can’t do a full blog post as I lost all my photos-would you believe it!
What a wonderfiul, action packed and very pretty looking year you had. I miss those fancy foods now that we have a toddler, you can enter so many places without fear of the ‘eye’. So for now I’ll live through you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It’s a shame we missed you in Croatia Sarah-Jane…we were so close! Those fabulous dinners have added a few extra kilos so living vicariously may be the answer for me too!
Lovely pics! Thx for sharing.
Yes, doesn’t it feel good when you reflect back on your year of travel? Travel makes my heart sing. Without it, the music stops.
It’s great to look back and be reminded of the amazing times we had though not a day goes by that I don’t think of one of our experiences. That and planning our next travels certainly keeps me happy! Thank you for visiting the blog and your lovely comment Doreen.
What a fabulous year you’ve had Jenny! I love your photos and remember a lot of them from Instagram but have found a whole lot of new faves (which I’ve “Pinned”) in this post. I so loved the rainbow steps, the Brugge bridge, the Whirling Dervish, the balloons at dawn, the pic of the mopeds in Rome, and my list goes on. Truly wonderful photography – you’re an inspiration 🙂
Thanks Jo. It was an incredible year! We were very fortunate to be able to be away so long. I really must get back to Pinterest..thanks for the pins!
