Watching our approach from the top of a grassy knoll, we finally joined this lion family resting in the afternoon shade. They had eluded us for a while but now we could see the interaction between members of one of the largest prides on the plains of Grumeti Reserves.
I could sit and watch forever!!

You can see where cats get their cool image from, and why lions are referred to as “king of the jungle”. They are so regal.
Love your comment, Jan. Cool cats is so true! They are such beautiful animals.
They are just such beautiful cats. I am a Leo and think I love lions even more because of that! Their manes, their gorgeous faces. So regal. Great shot!
Leo…mmmm! They are definately your hero then! I’m sure you’d be the same as I am and want to watch them all day. We were lucky to see so many of them together
I always take my kids to the local zoo but we seem to come away disappointed every time. The lions and other animals on show are just like hollow imitations of the ones you show in all their pomp and glory.
We are looking at a family Kilimanjaro trip for next year and I think I am right in saying that it is going to be easy enough to combine it with a safari tour. I can’t even begin to imagine what their faces will be like when they see the animals
There certainly is something about seeing the animals in the wild. Your family will love it. How fabulous to be doing the climb and a gamepark. Yes, you are right – it is very easy to combine both, especially in Tanzania. There are many fabulous ones to choose from. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have the best holiday!
